DPS Assignment: Color: Yellow

I have seen many excellent "yellow" shots on DPS this week and got a little panic.
Here's my submission. (1st picture)

Zoom Photography - Computer Screen

I was having so much fun with the zoom photography and decided to shoot another series of my computer screen. Here are a couple more shots.

Zoom Photography - Tree

Inspired by the Tiger at Chester zoo picture and some good tips from a kind lady, here are a few shots of the tree in front of my balcony. :) The trick is simple, all you need is a zoom lens, set shutter speed between (1/8 sec to 0.3 sec depending how still you can hold your camera). Another method is set your aperture to a high f/stop i.e. f/20 and above, then the shutter speed will be automatically set. Zoom in or out while clicking on the shutter button while shooting.

Zooming out: f/20  1/8sec ISO-100 Exp-0

Zooming in: f/22 1/3sec ISO-100 Exp-0

Actually this is my very first shot of the tree... noticed that the lines were a little wavy due to I didn't hold my camera still

For today's daily shoot assignment #ds557 - Make a photograph dominated by horizontal lines. Here is my submission! :)

Reflection - Water droplets

Inspired by this Sunday's Fotosöndag's theme - "upp och ner" / upside down, I've submitted the 1st picture for the assignment. The rest are my own challenge... trying to capture as many water droplets with clear reflection as possible. 5 water droplets are my best shot right now.

It starts to get difficult to find the best angle to capture every detail in each droplet

This is the setting... place 2 glasses (same height) parallel to each other (about 10cm apart)

Optical illusion - glasses

I enjoy taking trick photography and this round is all about glasses illusion.

Dark room + dirty glasses = pretty cool photo effect. :)

I like the reflection

Not reflected perfectly but the shot was clear enough for me.

Guess you've already figured out how to take this picture. :)

Spork and Chopspoon

I've seen Chema Madoz's spork many times.
Couldn't help it but to try it out.

The trick is simple but the lighting was not as easy as I thought.

In fact, I even create my own version of chopspoon... :)

Setting: Get a clear piece of plastic and tape a fork/chopstick under it. Then on top, I placed the paper and spoon. For lighting, I placed a bare light (40W) under the fork to cast a shadow on the paper above it.

Week 6: Flying bread

I ran out of idea about what theme to photograph this week.
Here you go... a few pieces of bread flying off my toaster!

I bumped into this website and decided to give it a try!

Too bad I couldn't hold my camera still. Otherwise the result will be much better (more realistic).
Try it yourself! It is pretty niffty and fun!
Cooler example: the transparent desktop trick

 

To create this:

1. Take a picture of your hand and the whole computer or laptop screen.
2. Use that picture as your desktop background picture.
3. Open "notepad" and move it to the palm area. Type in a message if you want to.
4. Take another picture and voilà! Here you go!
